I started playing music when I was very young, 3 or 4. My parents had a piano in the house, and I played it all of the time. I took piano lessons for a while...but I play mostly by ear. I've been singing from around the same age. My parents introduced me to classical music and jazz and great bands/musicians like the Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, Tears for Fears, Annie Lennox, Carol King...etc. My parents love music, and they always shared it with my brother's and I growing up. When I started middle school I bought some of my first cd's...most of which I still own.... the Breeders, Bjork, Tears for Fears, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the B 52's. Some of my new favorite bands now are Mercury Rev, Belle and Sebastian, Elliot Smith, Stone Roses, the Delgados, the New Pornographers....

I don't consider myself a solo artist...although I have played a few solo shows...I don't really like playing alone...my main focus is Headlights.

Touring has been a great experience for me. I love being on the road with my band...and I'm lucky because I get to be with Tristan...who is my boyfriend and my favorite musician! Being on the road is hard...I usually get sick by the end...but there is almost nothing I would rather do than play shows every night, travel, and meet new people. Touring on the re- release has been very beneficial. Polyvinyl has worked very hard to do press and support us as we tour. We're very happy to be signed to such a great label and live in a town with such an awesome music scene.
