I was born and raised in Uptown Chicago and was exposed to music at an early age by my parents who are musicians. My dad gave me jazz and my mom gave me gospel and r&b. the commune I grew up in gave me folk (as all good communes should:) I always knew I wanted to play and sing, but never had any formal training. I began playing the guitar when I was 13 when I insisted that my dad teach me to play blackbird. He kindly obliged and I played it over and over again, not really learning anything else until I was almost done with high school. It was then that I began playing with an intention of creating my own songs. I love to play by myself, but don't really consider myself a solo artist. There is almost nothing I love more than to play music with my husband Noah in our band, Elanors. My musical influences range from Gillian Welch to Sade; Talk Talk to Rufus Wainwright and the Innocence Mission. I am honored to be a part of the CU music scene and have learned a great deal from the other artists here in town and those who support our vibrant music community.
