Triple Whip

Nominee for Best Record of 2006

"Triple Whip, an important name in the Champaign-Urbana music scene, has produced a creative and fresh album in their latest release "Snake Creeps Down". A concept album based on the plot of a kung fu movie, Triple Whip maintains their signature sense of artistry and energy throughout the entire record. Santanu Rahman (guitar and vocals), Holly Rushakoff (bass), and Jane Boxall (drums) have blended ideas, styles, and their instruments to create a sound that cannot be easily replicated.

Triple Whip demonstrates on their latest album that an artist does not have to compromise the quality of a melody to thoroughly rock out their listeners. This is due in part to an incorporation of jazz to round out the individuality of the group. Nominated for the Best Rock award last year, Triple Whip is no stranger to the Champaign-Urbana Local Music Awards. This year, they hope to take home the award for Best Album amongst stiff competition. Although lead singer Santanu Rahman has moved to Austin, Texas to pursue other things, Holly Rushakoff and Jane Boxall have continued to perform and keep the Triple Whip name alive. Expect to see Triple Whip amongst the front runners for the Best Album Award at the 2006 Champaign-Urbana Local Music Awards on April 6, 2006."
